Class A:Wax Carving
Shape your imagination in wax—every curve is the beginning of your future ring.
Service Description
Wax carving is the very first step in the lost-wax casting process, an ancient technique used by jewelers for centuries to create detailed, customized pieces. In this class, you’ll start with a solid block of jeweler’s wax (or wax ring tube) and gradually transform it into the shape of your dream ring or pendant. Guided by our instructors, you’ll learn how to saw, carve, file, and refine the wax to express your personal style—whether it’s clean and minimal, or full of organic textures and sculptural details. This hands-on class is perfect for beginners who want to experience the artistry behind fine jewelry, as well as for returning students ready to take their skills further. By the end of the session, you’ll have a wax model ready for casting. You may choose to: * Continue with our Casting class the same day to turn it into silver. * Schedule a later Casting class when you’re ready. * Leave your wax with us to send it out for professional casting in silver, gold, or platinum. ✨ Please note: Delft clay casting (the method we use in class) works best with simpler, solid shapes. More intricate or delicate designs may need to be sent out for professional casting. We’ll help you determine the best option for your piece. What you’ll learn: * Introduction to wax carving * How to plan your design and transfer it into wax form * Tips for balancing aesthetics with wearability * Preparing your wax model for the casting process Whether you carve alone or come with a partner, this class is a chance to slow down, focus, and create with your hands. Your wax model will become the foundation of a one-of-a-kind piece you’ll treasure forever.
